Chapter 6 Plumbing Systems

The reading for this week talked about how important water systems are for making sustainable homes. It starts with a review of the most important parts of these systems, like how to access the water, deal with waste, and also handle stormwater. To make buildings more eco-friendly, the book highlights how important it is to connect them with other parts of the building. There are many ways to use less water, such as installing low-flow taps, collecting rainwater, and  also recycling greywater.


The chapter also talks about design principles and it emphasizes how important it is to be successful and follow the rules that are set by the government. It demonstrates how important it is to create plumbing systems that not only meet current needs but also plan for  possible future issues by talking about sustainable building materials and keeping them in good shape. The chapter also talks about how good plumbing design can protect important water supplies and make a building last longer.



There are several things that designers could consider when they are designing an accessible bathroom. It's important to make sure there is enough space to move around the bathroom. Also installing grab bars at the correct heights and emergency fixtures with lever handles and buttons that can be moved. Slip resistant floors and good lighting can also help prevent any possible accidents. Lastly, being able to customize the space and flexibility in the design could be helpful to the user.
